Omnimats are designed specifically for rotary cutting and have accurate left and right handed grids. The surface is harder than most craft cutting mats. This helps to keep your rotary blade sharper for longer and give years of use. Both sides of the mat can be used. The sizes given are for the grid area of the mat.
