Wadding - Batting
Quilt Wadding (Batting)
Our quilt wadding selection is the largest in the UK. Wadding (called batting in the US) is crucial to patchwork and quilting forming the internal layer of the quilt sandwich. The decision to use a particular quilt wadding comes down to personal choice. Some quilters prefer cotton, bamboo or wool waddings to sew with because they are natural products, but they will shrink slightly (which may be the desired effect). Polyester wadding will not shrink and is suited to projects that are washed regularly. A mixed blend wadding can offer the benefits of both types in a reduced way.
With so many waddings to choose from try one of our wadding sample packs so you can experiment with different waddings, fabrics and threads.
