What is a Fat Quarter?
A fat quarter is a popular size for a patchwork and quilting fabric and each piece is 50cm by approximately 55cm. To create a fat quarter we cut a half metre piece and then slice this vertically across the fold line. So every half metre gives us two fat quarters. Our fat quarter packs are made up of either fabrics from the same range, fabric designer or co-ordinating fabrics around a particular style or theme. Fat quarters are a popular size of fabric to buy because they allow you to build up your fabric stash relatively quickly.
