One of the challenges for the domestic machine quilter is working with the restriction of a smaller free arm. One solution to this is to complete your blocks and quilting in sections and then assemble the blocks.
Leonie has devised a technique for sashing quilted blocks together using the Westalee Ruler Foot and a Lineworks SashLeeQuilt template.
This sashing technique can be used to great effect as shown in the quilt image. Depending on your fabric choice the sashing can be chosen to complement or contrast with the block colours. You can find out more about the technique in the video.
The technique can be used for any size block or border. An instruction booklet is included with the template that covers creating 1", 1½”, 2", 2½” and 3" wide sashing.
