Strawberry Thief Fabrics

The Strawberry Thief is a classic design by William Morris and features a repeating bird design among the strawberries waiting to fly away with the spoils! William Morris was inspired to make this design whilst watching the thrushes taking fruit from his own kitchen garden at Kelmscott. At the time Strawberry Thief was one of the most expensive fabrics produced by Morris as it used the indigo dye technique which was very time consuming process. Today the Strawberry Thief is recognised as one of the most iconic designs and has moved well beyond the original fabrics and wallpaper that it was printed on.  Below is our current selection of Strawberry Thief fabrics.
